You're an anchor.
Anchors can't waiver. They have to stay planted and stand their ground. As an anchor I've been missing in one area of my life. It has caused a rift and now that I'll be returning I have to do major damage control.
I must not allow this repair period to get to me. Kind of like a healing stage again. People are hurt not necessarily because of something I did but from my absence. So I first must not internalize this as a blow to my ego. I need to take this as an opportunity to become stronger than ever. Prepare my mind when I wake for an honest days work. The work that we do will take care of itself. It's the building of people where the challenge lies.
I've had the privilege to work alongside some amazing people. They paved the way and provided a great example on what it means to be a true leader. As those people walk towards a different path I'm left with the shadow of their influence. A reminder of greatness.
There are people who have what I've read an emotional vomit or like a volcanic explosion. This is where what's being said comes off like pointing fingers and playing the victim so as to make the target person the villain. How do you remedy the irrational? Do you give them what they want?
No. I've learned to remain calm and to never respond with the same energy. Somehow, responding the same catches you in this blackhole of a they were right and you are wrong. Even though it's not a competition. Being a team player in life keeps you on your toes. It keeps you focused on where the real battle lies, not with your teammate but with finding a solution.
Being an anchor is tough but rewarding when you can hold the ship of life together.
