BEING THE CEO OF YOUR LIFE
Because whether you realize it or not, you already are; you don’t need to “become.” It’s about refining so that you can be the best version possible.
Don’t undermine yourself because of your situation.
No matter where you are, remember it’s not about the destination but the journey.
Living in the present vs. for the future or the past.
Life is not about what happens to you, but how you handle what happens to you.
Peaceful people who have unlocked the code to the good life.
You can be on a trip and still have a miserable time. There are people that always complain no matter what.
Be kind to yourself; as long as you're on a positive trajectory, that’s what matters.
Are you better than you were yesterday, last week, month, or year?
Put systems in place for you to win.
I’m currently reading "Atomic Habits" by James Clear - Goals vs. Habits to reach those goals. I have found that goals don’t work for me.
Create an identity for you to become in life, for real, not like "I wanna be like this person," i.e., Halle Berry… but "I want to be organized… a great mother… financially stable…" and the habits of that identity, you align yourself with that. Similar to aligning yourself with the identity of Christ… so your character traits are the Fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
I thrive when I have a system in place for me to win. Lists of goals are great, but what habits/tools lead to reaching them?
I love 9 to 5’s because they are basically a system that works. If you buy into it, you help facilitate it, make it run, and you get to benefit from it.
Zone Your Life.
In an organized space, things are zoned… everything has a home. For some, this comes easy; for others, it does not. Is your life categorized in such a way that it makes sense even on your worst day?
What are your routines? Similar to systems and habits set in place. Does your life flow in such a way that it’s effortless? Remember, these are all things that work for you. In home organization, people zone the items in their home based on their natural flow. So if you always put your keys down on the dresser or table in the foyer, perhaps get a bowl to put them in. If your shoes are coming off right at the door, put a mat or shoe organizer down for them to be nicely placed in. Talk about baskets for clothes.
For me, I feel it’s all about presentation. The way I present or portray myself is how I intentionally want to come off. Instead of tossing your throw blankets on the couch when you’re done, how about folding them? Would I want to shop in my own home? As I move about in the world, I want to navigate life in such a way that each area is left the way I found it. Hopefully in place. My finances are intentional, and my money has directives. Thus, my bank account at the end of each pay period will not be in shambles. I’m on a forward trajectory towards the goal of financial stability + freedom. This too has to be defined for me specifically. Because for each person, it’s different. Slight tangent, financial freedom or stability can mean - debt-free - ability to travel - ready to purchase a home - a diversified portfolio - giving to charities or non-profits - ability to pay for your child(ren)’s education - your education - shopping sprees. With anything we discussed today, these are things that I am actively working on and defining for myself. Pray it all works out for you.
Schedule or layout how your faithfulness or integrity will play out. What is your workflow!?
If you're first starting out, you can begin by upsetting your life to fix it back up again to see what you’ve really got that sticks and what you need to toss and get rid of to completely start all over again.
I’m in a new season as a mom in a completely different body than I had 22 months ago. I did not snap back, but I’m still working towards a body I love and can embrace. It’s all about perspective. When I look at some of my old pictures, I think they look fabulous (insert pic), and I could have that old version of me again. I say to myself, "Ah, I was so small. Man!" Some current photos I think I’m huge, but then I do a double take and say, "Wow, I look so mature." So first, I’m going through ALL of my clothes and just starting from scratch because I have to. Taking everything out and realizing I need to create a new habit of taking inventory each year of my wardrobe.
This is just the beginning of my journey, of course there will be other discoveries. As I explore them I'll be sure to keep you up to speed. It may be of encouragement to you.
